Fat monkeys.
How to be a miserable failure in MLM.
In this clip from Keith Carey, along with mention of 500-pound gorillas there's much talk of web-two-point-oh.
All the usual 'millions & billions' cliches are there… 'utilize new technology to drive free traffic, massive wave sweeping the Internet', and of course the de-rigeur buzzword 'social networking'.
It's all wrapped-up in a typically insincere 'love-to tell you, I'll teach you, have a great day' do-this-for-success pitch which rightly slates the old 'miserable failure' stuff of 'cold-call, three-foot-rule, hit-up your friends and family'.
I've seen a lot worse. KC appears to be a decent and enthusiastic guy. Pity then, that his link is to a 'You're About To Learn Secrets That Most Struggling MLM'ers Will Never Know' squeeze page. I'd expected better.
That such approaches work so well is testimony to the gullibility of people, not the brilliance of the marketer. (Although clearly, the two are interlinked—there's one born far more often than 'every minute' and the web will help you find 'em.)
What's the takeaway lesson here? For someone wanting to use video effectively?
- If you have the slightest bit of 'genuine personality', leave Camtasia in the box and get in front of the camera yourself.
- Get sensible lighting and sound, record the thing at a decent frame rate. (Those three will give you the ups on most NM videos)
- Be honest, open and enthusiastic. (Don't come over like a sedated moron, or an insincere slickster.)
Beyond that… unless you're targeting people with IQs at shoe-size level, squeeze pages are a poor choice. Keith may have good stuff—but that squeeze page will deter many sensible people from exploring further.
